High Five for Friday

It’s Friday, Friday… Gonna get down on Friday!

Now that you hate me for getting that song stuck in your head…

Anyway, I’m linking up with The Lauren Elizabeth for High Five for Friday.

Normally, I am so excited about Friday as it is the end of the work week.  However, since I’ve been stuck at home due to snice (check out this post if you don’t know what I am talking about), Friday means I have to go back to work.  At least it’s one day then the weekend, right?!

1. I got my first Julep box! I’ll write a review about it soon, but so far, I love it!

2. My mother-in-law owns a florist, and always makes me the most beautiful wreaths! This time, she did my favorite colors: gray and yellow!

3. As I mentioned in last week’s H54F, I got an iPhone. I figure since I now I have Siri, I should make good use of it. Monty Python, anyone?

4. We ventured out into the snowmageddon.  And of course I had to take the obligitory couple selfie.

5. Since we rarely get snow, the kids had to figure out ways to sled on the snice.  They were pretty creative.

What have you been up to this week? Did you get caught in snowpocalypse?

High Five for Friday!

Since it was a short week for me thanks to MLK Day, it made the workdays fly by! I wish every weekend was a 3-day weekend. It’s amazing what I can get done, especially around the house, with that one extra day! However, the rest of the week has been pretty busy, so I’m linking up with Lauren to share the highlights of my week:

1. I got an iPhone 5s. For those of you that know me, this is a huge deal. I am a big Android fan but they seemed to get very buggy after a while. I’m still not a huge Apple fan, but I really like my iPhone so far (especially the fingerprint scanner— my work email requires a password on my phone, so this feature is so nice.  I love not having to enter the password every time to unlock my phone.  Plus, it’s GOLD! I love, love, love anything gold!).  If you have any recommendatons on good apps, please let me know!

2. We got snow! It was just a few flurries, but for Wilmington, this is a big deal. This is the town that had 2-hour school delays just last week for COLDNESS.

This is me doing Dandayamana-Dhanurasana (bow pose)

3. I made my goal of making to yoga 3 times this week!  I haven’t been very regular about going due to the holidays and some craziness at work.   However, one of my New Year’s resolutions is to make it a priority and get there at least 3x/week.  In case you are wondering, I practice Bikram yoga. You can find more info about it here

Not only did I get rid of a bunch of clothes, but I also organized my closet by type and color. #slightlyocd

4.  I cleaned out my closet.  I am going to take it all to Clothes Mentor and see how much of it they will buy from me.  Then the rest will either be given away to friends or donated to Goodwill.

5. I am very excited to have an entire Saturday to myself.  I don’t know what has happened to me over the last few years because I used to be such a social butterfly and would’ve never enjoyed “alone time.”  But now I look forward to it! I have a couple of errands to run but I’m thinking most of my day will consist of catching up on Downton Abbey and maybe re-watching Gilmore Girls for the hundreth time.

I’m linking up with Lauren from thelaurenelizabeth.com for High Five for Friday!

TGIF! TGIF! TGIF!

Can you tell that I am excited it’s Friday?! Having a normal week after having a very short week thanks to Thanksgiving (no pun intended haha) was rough!  However, there are only 2 more weeks until Christmas break so I can’t complain too much.

My beautiful sister!

1. Thanksgiving definitely spoiled me.  It was so much fun to have a few days off and spend time with my family, especially my sister.  It seems in recent months that our schedules have been very opposite, so we have gotten to see much of each other.  However, I think we spent more time together in just a couple of days last week than we have in nearly 3 months.  It was awesome.  I texted her Tuesday and told her I was having withdrawals.

He really does love me…

2. I also have been getting to see my brother more regularly.  However, he refuses to take a picture with me, so I had my hubby help me snap this beauty…

Target. At 1 a.m. Post “Black Thursday” craziness. And still tons of deals. And no lines.

3. My hubby and I ventured out for Black Friday shopping (Note: Black FRIDAY… that means we went shopping on FRIDAY, not Thursday.  I refuse to go out on Thursday.  Maybe I’ll post my rant about that sometime soon lol).  Anyway, we headed out about 1am after 3 Dr. Peppers and 2 cups of coffee.  It was totally worth waiting until that late/early/however you want to look at it! There was NO ONE out.  We went to Target, Kohl’s, Best Buy, and LOFT, and all 4 places still had everything in stock that I was looking for and there were no lines.  I actually felt bad for the workers because they were just standing around, clearly bored and tired.  Having worked in retail and on Black Friday for several years, I personally would rather it be busy so the time went by faster.  It was great for us though!

Don’t let this picture fool you. The glasses are actually navy, not black.

4. My new glasses came in this week.  I normally wear contacts, but have really been wanting a good pair of glasses so I could give my eyes a break (if you wear contacts, you understand this).  The pair I had were about 5 years old though and the prescription was off, so I only wore them at night.  I picked these Kate Spade glasses out a couple of weeks ago at my annual exam and they finally came in! I absolutely love them!

I’m a turkey!

5. I got 3 strikes in a row last night at bowling.  My husband’s last day at his current job is today, so his coworkers and boss took him out for a “going away” party of sorts, and they let me tag along.  I am normally a horrible bowler, so I had to take a picture!  It was a fun way to send goodbye.  I know my husband is going to miss them.  He’s worked with them for almost 5 years, but we are both very excited about his new opportunity!

How has your week been?

Hey y’all! I’m linking up with Lauren at http://www.thelaurenelizabeth.com for High Five for Friday! And I sure am glad it is Friday! Here is what I’ve been up to this week:

1. Last Friday night, the ladies at my church had a retreat at Fort Caswell. It was a wonderful time of fellowship and worship.

2. Saturday night was “date night.” We went to dinner and then saw Gravity in IMAX 3D. It was the first movie we’ve seen since we got an IMAX here in Wilmington, and I don’t usually like 3D (it gives me a headache). But this movie was perfect for it! The movie itself was really good too!1384119_10100552759981766_2026105886_n

3. On Sunday, my family had lunch together and had a planning meeting for our trip to Disney World… My dad takes trip planning very seriously lol.1384331_10100553211437046_221635232_n

4. I am hooked on puzzles. At the ladies’ retreat, several of us worked on a puzzle, and I got hooked. Mom, my sister, and I started one on Sunday, which my mom ended up finishing that night, and now I am working on my own (1000 pieces… yeah, I might be busy for a few days…)

5. We have a new “neighbor.” This kitty has been showing up on our doorstop every so often this week and the other night, Linux got a glimpse of him and just stared out the window for about half an hour watching him. It was hilarious because the cat wasn’t even remotely worried about Linux, but Linux was whining and fussing (I’m pretty sure he wanted to play with the cat haha!)

So, what have you been up this week?

High Five for Friday!

photo H54Fbutton-1_zpsa7aaa665.pngHey y’all! (Yep, I said y’all.)  Sorry I haven’t posted much this week, but I am linking up with Lauren at thelaurenelizabeth.com for H54F!  Here is what I have been up to this week!

1.  On Saturday night, I babysat this cutie and painted her toenails.  I also did my nails in the same color, and she loved that we matched!  This girl has more personality than she  knows what to do with lol!575445_10100419636427436_599796343_n

2.  On Sunday night, my hubby and I went to a cookout with some of our very good friends (one family is the same one I babysat for the night before).  It was so much fun to eat, play ladder golf, then chill around the fire after the kiddos had gone to bed.  My hubby and I are the only ones in that group that don’t have kids, but I love getting to play and love on their cuties!

3.  On Memorial Day, we had some friends over to hang out at our neighborhood pool and a cookout at our place.  Of course, I managed to not take any pictures, though I doubt y’all mind not being subjected to pictures of me in a bathing suit.  Anyway, it was fun to hang out with some other couples that don’t have kids (we’ve nicknamed ourselves “the barren couples” haha).  That night, Jeff and I watched Act of Valor.  It was a perfect way to be reminded of what our soldiers do and sacrifice on a daily basis to keep our country free.

4.  Tonight, I am having a girls’ night in at my house! Wine and friends, need I say more?!

keep-calm-because-its-girls-night-wine-chocolate

5.  Tomorrow, we are planning to attend the funeral for my hubby’s childhood pastor, who also married us.  Though it is a sad time, it is also a time for rejoicing as we know he is in heaven celebrating with his Jesus!

How has your week been?

High Five for Friday

Wow! What a crazy week! I’m sorry I haven’t posted much.  This week has completely gotten away from me!  So, I figured for this High Five for Friday post, I would fill you in on why this week has been so crazy!

1.  I got stuck at work late Monday so I missed yoga that day.  I had planned to go to a class, but I missed both afternoon class times.  This ended up working to my benefit though because I needed to run a couple errands.  Plus I got to suprise my hubby with dinner.  He has been working so hard on a project at work, and hasn’t slept much.  He was taking a nap when I got home and was very suprised to wake up to a home-cooked meal.

2. On Tuesday, I went to watch this girl play soccer.  I have known her since she was 5 years old.  Now she’s a teenager and turning into a beautiful young lady.  And I’m depressed about how old I’m getting…

375026_10100400801427926_2139716058_n

3.  On Wednesday, I just crashed! I spent the evening on the couch, eating pizza, and watching Gilmore Girls with my hubby.  Yes, he is the best husband ever because not only does he watch GG with me, he actually likes the show.

4.  On Thursday, I had a dentist appointment after work.  I used to have a HUGE fear of going to the dentist but I started going to a new place two years ago, and I absolutely love them.  They are so nice and patient with me (no matter how many times they tell me I need to floss everyday— which I don’t. TMI?).  I actually look forward to going to the dentist now!

5.  My mom’s neighborhood is having their community-wide yardsale on Saturday, so I have been cleaning out and taking loads of stuff to her house.  I’m sure she is loving that she can’t find her dining room right now, but once the yardsale is over, anything that is left will go straight to Goodwill.  I REFUSE to take anything back into the house after a yardsale.  I’m the opposite of a hoarder (which is sometimes not exactly a positive thing— I’ll throw things away that I later regret just because it’s taking up space).

How has your week been? Hope it’s been more calm than mine!

It’s finally Friday and I am linking up with Lauren from www.thelaurenelizabeth.com.  You should definitely check out her blog!

Some highlights from this week are:

1.  Classes are done! There is a week of exams to get through (for the students, not for me), but since I work at a university that means we are VERY close to summer break!

2. I’ve been watching my favorite show, Gilmore Girls, for the umpteenth time.  I  have all 7 seasons on DVD, so started a couple of weeks ago on Season 1, and am on Season 6 now.  I love coming home, crashing on the couch, and watching a couple of episodes to unwind at night.

 gilmore_girls[2]

3.  This article made its way around Facebook this week, and I recommend everyone read it! Let’s just say, I was extrememly convicted by it.  I had never thought of “gluttony” in this way before.

4.  We get to see our best friends this weekend!  Matt and Justine live in Raleigh, so we don’t get to see them very often, so when they come to town, it’s very exciting!  Justine also has a blog so make sure to take a look at it:  celebrateyourlife365.wordpress.com.

5.  Lastly, I am excited to catch up on some much needed sleep! The last couple of weeks have been very hectic, and this will be one of the few weekends that we can relax and hang out at the house.
